New to prayer walks and wonder what prayer walking is?

Simply put it is exactly as the words imply: walking and praying. Someone described it as: praying on site with insight. Prayer walks are part of reaching beyond our walls and connecting with the wider community. Seeing the sights of our St. Mark’s neighborhood, hearing its sounds, encountering its people, makes us more sensitive and in-tune with all that is going on in City Heights. It is a way to sense where God is at work and where we can join God’s work.

As we walk we gain some awareness about what is significant to our neighbors and what their needs are. Importantly we pray for them, their families, their homes, their businesses, their schools, their needs and lives. All along, we keep our hearts open to what the Holy Spirit is telling us as well: be it stopping and talking to someone, or making an unplanned detour, all of it is waiting for us in our hood.

Put on your walking shoes and join us on Saturday, May 31 at 2 pm. Meet at St. Mark’s. The walk will be about one hour.
