Fr. Richard’s Newsletter Message for 8/19/2022
Hello again, and welcome to St. Mark’s Episcopal Church in City Heights.
Thank you for joining us today. I am actually recording our message earlier this week. By the time that you see this, this is actually last Saturday. Here we are in our Back-to-School-Bash, which is a really important event for us at St. Mark’s. It is our chance to give back to the community. So many people have made this possible. Today we are giving out over two hundred backpacks, to our local children and to children across our diocese. Backpacks which are stuffed full with school supplies. In these tough economic times, it is really important that we can support our community in this way. And so thank you to everyone who made this possible.
A couple of weeks ago, in my message on Sunday morning, we talked about how our worship can not be separated from what we do in our lives, and if our worship does not transform us to do God’s work, to come closer to God, then our worship is missing out. And hopefully, our Back-to-School-Bash is an example of how our worship transforms us, and leads to work in our community.
During the summer, our worship service is starting a little bit early. In August and September our worship starts at 9:15 a.m. and on Sunday this week, we are going to go outside from our gates, and we are going to have our service in the City Heights park, next door to the library. So do join us on Sunday for Mass-on-the-Grass, at 9:15 a.m. We would love it if you could join us.
Know that you are loved, perfectly as you are, and that all are welcome here at St. Mark’s.
Blessings to you,
Fr. Richard
