Fr. Richard’s Clergy Message for June 10, 2022

My siblings in Christ,

What a glorious and appropriate day we had last Sunday when we celebrated the Feast of Pentecost, the success of our Wholeness capital and stewardship campaigns and the blessing and sending off of Fr. Mark+ and his family as they leave for St. Thomas’s parish in Chesapeake, Virginia. In our church calendar, we quickly move on, this coming Sunday, from the day of Pentecost to Trinity Sunday, when we will consider the Christian doctrine of the Trinity.

But before we get there, I want to reflect on the words of wisdom that Fr. Mark left with us in his sermon last week. He reminded us that although we have raised more than our target in both the capital and stewardship parts of our Wholeness campaign our work is not yet over. Not only do we need to work out how we will use all of the money that we raised in light of ever changing (increasing) prices, of equal importance is that we need to continue to build all of the relationships we made, renewed and strengthened over the last nine months of the campaign. If we do not nurture those relationships then we will be in the same position we would be in if we squandered away the monies we raised.

And so I wonder, what relationship can you work on over the coming weeks and months? It may be a new or renewed relationship that has resulted from the campaign, or it may be a long standing relationship that needs some attention, care and vulnerability. As we work on those relationships I hope that we can walk that journey together, supporting each other and learning from each other.

Blessings,

Fr. Richard
